The day you become a mother is filled with so much potential.
It could be the most beautiful, joyful, powerful journey; a journey of surrendering to God’s will,
of learning to step back and listen to your body, to your baby; a practice that begins ideally before pregnancy but is refined in conscious, attentive motherhood.
It also has the potential to be the most traumatic, bittersweet experience of your life- bittersweet because you may have still been blessed with a beautiful baby, but…
your initiation into motherhood was layered in fear of the mystery,
disconnection from your body,
distrust in your intuition,
and interference in the physiological cascade of birth that often results in someone claiming medical heroism (medical "saving" *becomes* necessary when birth begins with intervention).
The day you become a mother *could* be anywhere along that spectrum because one reality of pregnancy and birth is that there is a reason we don’t know:
the sex of our baby,
how many babies are in there,
what size our baby is,
what unique traits they will have,
when they will be born,
and, a difficult, unthinkable truth to face, even if they will be born alive.
In my time studying the female body and the process of conception to birth, I have seen it all and seen beauty, grief and lessons learned in many of the stories I’ve witnessed.
Ultimately, the outcomes we experience are not in our hands.
But does that mean we simply submit without taking practical steps to protect the inherent safety of pregnancy and birth?

There is *so much* that’s in your power!
And arguably- these are the factors that are worth dwelling on because they are actionable habits that can have a direct impact on your outcomes.
Though not everyone realizes the impact of preconception preparation (yet!) - I hope I can assume that, if it were up to you, you would much rather scenario number 1 rather than number 2 that I shared above.
